ELECTRIC WINCHES - WHAT ARE THEY?

This item is used to pull or lift heavy items, and they are most commonly used to pull, automobiles, cranes, trucks, and more. They come in many different shapes and sizes and have different speed engines. Most electric versions are capable of handling loads that weigh anything from 500Ibs to 2T- so please ensure you pick the appropriate version for your desired task.

HOW YOU CAN USE ONE

Knowing how to use equipment properly is imperative to keep you and your workers safe and avoid injuries. If you are using a winch, it is important to wear gloves to keep your hands safe. Here are a couple of instructions to help you get started.

You will need to connect its remote control cable (if there is one) and open the clutch. Then use the remote to release the cable and ensure the cable has more than 5 turns on the drum.

When you connect the cable to the object you want to move, turn off the clutch. You can use the remote control to control the dragging of the vehicle until you are satisfied.

SAFETY MEASURES TO TAKE WHEN USING

There are a few safety measures to take to ensure you and your workers stay safe whilst using them. Here are some safety measures for you to practice and remember:

  • Do not operate this machinery unless you are fully trained, with someone who is trained, and physically fit.
  • They are not designed for, and should not be used for, lifting, supporting, or transporting personnel. Please make sure you only use where recommended.
  • Do not use it for vertical lifting unless utilising a designed application.
  • Keep hands clear of the cable, and wear gloves to keep your hands safe.
  • Make sure you have oiled and greased it.
  • Make sure you have the appropriate capacity. You want your cable to be able to withstand the weight you are pulling or lifting.
  • Please always check yours for any damage or faults. It is unsafe to use a damaged version. Make sure to take care and store it in an appropriate place.

These safety tips are recommendations from LES USA to help keep you safe and we would ask that you please consider these when using your . They are here for your protection.

ADVANTAGES OF USING ELECTRIC VERSIONS COMPARED TO MANUAL

There are several different variations you can use but by far the electric version is the most popular.

You may be asking, 'why is this?' Well, here are the main advantages you can consider as to when deciding which version winch to use

An electrically powered version can lift and move heavy objects at the expense of minimum manual labor.

They are small, easy to install, easy to transport, and less noisy, and because of their size will not take up a lot of space in the workplace.

You will find they have strong pulling forces and are durable which is ideal for several scenarios that may occur.

You can use this product if a car is sinking or stuck as it can help rescue your vehicle. Also, if, for example, your vehicle has broken down, you can use this to be towed back to the repair shop or towards a safer desired location.

Lastly, electric versions can allow movement in both directions both, vertically and horizontally. This might not seem that beneficial, but it can be the decisive factor as to why someone may want a powered one over another version.
