Types of Hoists

Here are the main types of hoists LES USA offers:

Manual Chain Hoists

Manual chain hoists are reliable, low-maintenance lifting tools that use a hand chain to move loads vertically. They don’t need power, which makes them a great fit for job sites without electrical access or in situations where portability matters.

These hoists are ideal for steady, controlled lifting of heavy loads in workshops, small warehouses, and rigging setups. With simple internal mechanisms and forged steel hooks, they can take a lot of abuse and still perform.

Lever Hoists

Lever hoists, also called come-alongs, give you the flexibility to lift, pull, or position loads in tight spaces or at odd angles. They use a ratcheting lever handle instead of a hand chain, allowing more control during short lifts or horizontal movements. Lever hoists are easy to secure and operate, even with one hand, and they come in compact sizes that fit well in service trucks or tool kits.

Electric Chain Hoists

Electric chain hoists offer faster lifting and are built for high-cycle use. They’re powered by a motor and controlled with a pendant or remote, allowing safe, hands-free operation.

Most models feature dual-speed lifting, thermal protection, and sealed components for long service life with less maintenance. These hoists are often paired with trolleys for overhead movement and are widely used in production lines, warehouses, and large-scale material handling.
