Available with single, two-speed and variable frequency drive speed options with a lifting speed ability up to 32fpm. Whilst single speed fits the requirement for ad-hoc lifting and an economical budget, two-speed lifting is often the buyer favourite since a secondary creep speed can be used to handle loads with more control whilst variable frequency drives can be fitted as an optional extra to provide a smooth transition between speeds and adjustable parameter rather than a factory specified speed, this gives optimum precision that is favoured when frequent handling of loads and operating precision tooling.

How to pick your electric chain hoist

Electric Chain Hoists can appear as very complex pieces of machinery, the truth being, they are actually relatively simple. Their main functionality is very similar to that of a traditional hand chain hoist, but with a few added components to electrify and control the motions and electromagnetic brake system.

Capacity, measured and marked in Tons in the case of the Coffing JLC, your lifting capacity should reflect your desired operation for the hoist, you should choose a capacity that you will never need to exceed, overloading hoists is not recommended and is extremely dangerous when not performed as a controlled test. Be sure to plan for the future and save on having to upgrade your hoist in the future should you have plans to expand your current operation.

Lift, measured in ft the lift and otherwise known as 'height of lift', 'reach' or 'lift height', selecting the correct lift is essential to every hoist purchase. Measuring the distance from the load to the underside of the beam or suspension point that the hoist will sit at will provide an accurate measurement.

Speed, measured in ft per minute (fpm or ft p/m) the speed of your hoist can be critical to productivity and an essential consideration for every application. Choosing between single or dual speed operation is a first, we always highly recommend the use of a second speed since it often results on less wear and tear on the hoist, smoother and more precise operation and an overall easier ride. For applications where the speed needs frequent adjustment such as in the rental industry, we recommend a Variable Frequency Drive since this will not only allow ultra-smooth speed transition but also adjustment of the current lifting speeds.

Voltage, choosing the correct voltage is will be determined by the supply to your desired installation site. A lower voltage or single phase may be preferred in construction sites and areas where three-phase is unavailable, whilst high voltage three-phase models are most common and all hoists are built to run with 60hz frequency which is standard here in the USA.

Suspension Type, when purchasing your Coffing JLC Electric Chain Hoist you may need to suspend it from an I-beam using a beam trolley or beam clamp . Beam trolleys can be supplied separately or more traditionally; integrated, as part of the hoist. Available in manual push/pull or electrically controlled options, the powered versions are again integrated and even down to the control station which if electric is selected, includes a 4-button pendant control for up/down operation of the hoist and left/right travel of the trolley.
